Luke 18:8 In the opening verses of this chapter,
we read the parable of the judge “which feared not God, neither regarded man”
and the widow who doesn’t give up. Jesus
concludes his teaching with the words: “Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge1 his own
elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them
speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find
faith on the earth?”
S&H 132: 14 “The Pharisees of old thrust the spiritual idea and the man who lived it out of their synagogues, and retained their materialistic beliefs about God. Jesus’ system of healing received no aid nor approval from other sanitary or religious systems, from doctrines of physics or of divinity; and it has not yet been generally accepted.

Jesus’ system of healing received no aid nor approval from other sanitary or religious systems, from doctrines of physics or of divinity; and it has not yet been generally accepted.
To-day, as of yore, unconscious of the reappearing of the spiritual idea, blind belief shuts the door upon it, and condemns the cure of the sick and sinning if it is wrought on any but a material and a doctrinal theory. Anticipating this rejection of idealism, of the true idea of God, -- this salvation from all error, physical and mental, -- Jesus asked, “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?””

Luke 18:9-14 Here is a parable “unto certain
which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others”. “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the
one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that
I am not as other men are,
extortioners...”
S&H 8:30 “If a friend informs us of a fault,
do we listen patiently to the rebuke and credit what is said? Do we not rather
give thanks that we are “not as other men”?

Luke 18:17
“Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall
not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter
therein.”
S&H 382:13 “He, who is ignorant of what is termed hygienic law, is more receptive of spiritual power and of faith in one God, than is the devotee of supposed hygienic law, who comes to teach the so-called ignorant one.... A patient thoroughly booked in medical theories is more difficult to heal through Mind than one who is not. This verifies the saying of our Master: “Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall in no wise enter therein.”’”

· Luke 19:11
Jesus has a lesson to teach to those who thought that the kingdom of God should
immediately appear”. It is the story of
a nobleman who heads off to seek and find a kingdom. He gives his servants some money and tells them
to keep busy i.e. “Occupy till I come”.
S&H 22:11 “”Work out your own salvation,” is the demand of Life and Love, for to this end God worketh with you. “Occupy till I come!” Wait for your reward, and “be not weary in well doing.”

Luke 20:34, 35
Here the topic is marriage, a topical subject still in our age. Jesus says: “...The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they
which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from
the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.”
New Living Translation (NLT) -

34 Jesus replied, “Marriage is for people here on earth.
35 But
in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither
marry nor be given in marriage.
S&H 69:26 The final paragraph in the chapter titled “Marriage” begins: “If Christian Scientists educate their own offspring spiritually, then can educate others spiritually and not conflict with the scientific sense of God’s creation. The paragraph and chapter conclude with Jesus’ words above: “The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.”
S&H 69:10 And how about this arresting statement: “No longer to marry or to be “given in marriage” neither closes man’s continuity nor his sense of increasing number in God’s infinite plan.”

Luke 22:18 The scene has become known as the
Last Supper. Jesus “took the cup, and
gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves; For I say unto you, will not drink of the
fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.”
